Two leaves and a bud

In tea plucking, top two leaves and the bud or two and a half leaves is considered the best quality leaf. At our very own estates, we carefully picked the best quality leaves to make the finest of Ceylon Tea.

Withering Beds

Once carefully picked and delivered to our factory, these fresh leaves are placed on withering beds for the purpose of reducing the moisture of these leaves naturally. Leaves are spread on these beds at a rate of 3Kgs per Square feet and then let the moisture to be reduced.

Twist & Roll

When moisture reaches the preferred level, these leaves are then rolled and twisted to perfection maximizing twist and bringing out the natural essence from within the leaves.

Athukorala Tea

Enzymes

Perfectly rolled and twisted leaves with boosted natural essence then transferred to fermentation process. During the fermentation of 2 3 hours time, the enzymes within the leaves naturally reacts and enhance the 3 main qualities of color, strength and liquor of tea.

Fire it up

At the end of fermentation, tea is fired preserving its characters, checking and highlighting the zests within distilling it’s revitalized qualities and preparing it for the cup

Sorting

Once fired and highlighting zests, next step is to sort the tea using the latest technology ensuring the top quality and accurate grading of every single portion from leaf to tip.
